Bridging Update for 2011 Year End
Posted January 5, 2012
Opportunities to serve as bridges of faith in our community reached all new participation records. The Bridging Ministry at Faithbridge had a very busy last quarter 2011. More new people participated in the different missional activities than ever before in the history of Faithbridge.

New opportunities in September and November included the
vision screenings led by Dr. David Way and Julie Ewers team of volunteers at four Klein ISD Title I schools. With a grant from the Essilor Vision Foundation, all students in need of glasses were equipped and will have a greater chance for success in their academic endeavors.
Faithbridgers responded in a huge way to the
Blanket Drive for the families residing in Tegucigalpa, Honduras serviced by our global mission partner,
Hope for Honduras. More than $2500 was collected to purchase blankets that were distributed to more than 250 families in need.
Takin’ It to the Streets in November had a number of new projects that allowed more Faithbridge volunteers to serve in the community in one day than ever before. Whether calling bingo numbers, running a day camp, packing care packages and food or, giving manicures to the elderly, our volunteers reached out in a big way to serve our local community.
November brought the McDougle Turkey Trot, once again masterfully coordinated and led by Heather Raines. There were games, activities and a food distribution for the families at McDougle to ensure no child would go hungry over the Thanksgiving break.
The beginning of December, Faithbridge had an opportunity to bring a little Christmas cheer to the families at Nitsch Elementary with the first annual Cookies and Milk with Santa event. It was a great day for all with pictures, games, story time, and of course Santa and his faithful elves, close to 50 Faithbridge volunteers participated, many first time servers.

Later in December, we were able to focus our efforts on other local needs with two
McDougle Christmas parties led by Faithbridge Student Ministry, in conjunction with Children’s Ministry, several hundred toys were collected and distributed at two parties for McDougle families in need. The Student Ministry led games, pictures with Santa, served meals and distributed toys to the families in attendance. What a wonderful day it was!
And, who could have possibly predicted the amazing outpouring of love shown by the Faithbridge congregation to Sparrow’s Nest, YMCA International stockings for victims of Human Trafficking, Angel Tree Prison Ministry Children and Salvation Army Senior Citizens?

There was such an incredible spirit of generosity on the part of Faithbridge that we had to ask for more names and needs to be filled, since after the first weekend all that had been made available were filled. 2012 will I am sure be another banner year for the Bridging Ministry.
We have seven Global Mission Trips currently scheduled for 2012. Feel free to
click here for all the trips and to contact Bridging Coordinator, Peggy Burdon, peggy.burdon@faitbridge.org if you are interested in hearing more about them, or perhaps you are ready to commit to the calling God has already put on your heart to go and serve the least, the last and the lost in another part of the world on a short term mission trip.
It is an honor to serve as the Bridging Pastor for Faithbridge and to see God’s Spirit alive and actively at work in our members who have truly embraced the new mission statement, “To make more and stronger disciples of Jesus Christ, who make more and stronger disciples of Jesus Christ.”
