Takin’ It To The Streets

Join us to make an impact for Christ in our community on Saturday, March 31.  Takin' It To The Streets includes something for everyone. Many projects fill up fast, so reserve a spot now.

Choose a project that fits your interests from the list below. To register, click on the project name. Please sign up for just one project, since most are held on the same day. 

Boys & Girls Country Cypress area on 290, near Waller/Tomball 
A Christian home providing children from families in crisis with love, security, a sense of self-worth, and opportunities to prepare them for a successful life.
Tasks: Weeding and mulching flower beds.
Time: 9am-Noon
Volunteers: Need 20   Age 16 and up.
 
Freedom Place Just outside Houston 
A Christ-centered care and recovery center for underage female victims of child sex trafficking.
Tasks: Shrub and tree removal
Time: 8am-3pm
Volunteers: Need 10  Adults only.
 
Generation One 1910 Napolean, Houston 77003   
Organization committed to the spiritual growth and physical rebuilding of the impoverished areas of  Houston’s Third Ward.
Tasks: Paint a House
Time: 9am-3pm
Volunteers: Need 25  Responsible children 8 and up are welcome
 
A bridge building ministry to reach out to underprivileged children and help establish them in a local church.
Tasks:   Run various activities at this day camp. 
Time:   All Day Event
Volunteers: Need 75    Children age 5 and up welcome.
 
Houston FoodBank 535 Portwall St, Houston 77029  
Inter-faith ministry providing food for people in need.
Tasks: Sort and pack food in the warehouse.
This project is FULL.
Time: 8am-Noon
Volunteers: Need 30   Children age 8 and up welcome.
 
KISD Elementary Campuses South of Beltway 8  
Support the needs of local schools in lower income areas.
Tasks: Planting a butterfly garden
Spruce up landscaping on school grounds
Time: 8am-Noon
Volunteers: Need 30 for each location 
Responsible children are welcome.
 
Moms Helping Moms  Just north of 2920 off Kuykendahl
Dedicated to assisting under-resourced families through provision of food, clothing, furniture, and items as needed.
Tasks: Organize donations and prepare for upcoming event for children in need of clothing.
Time: 8:30am-12:30pm
Volunteers: Need 20  Responsible children 7 and up are welcome.
 
Northwest Assistance Ministries FM1960 at Walters Rd

Neighbors caring for neighbors through collaborative efforts with congregations, community partners, donors, volunteers.
Task 1: Organize and sort donations in the Resale Shop • 1pm-3:30pm
Task 2: Deliever pre-made meals to local senior citizens • 10am-1pm
Volunteers: Need 25 total   
Age 16 and up can serve in Resale Shop.
Drivers to deliver food must be over 21.
 
Nursing Home One-on-One Fun 
Calling bingo numbers and giving manicures and fellowship to residents of assisted living homes in our community. Choose from two locations.
The Atria (Cypresswood Rd) • 1:30pm-4pm  This project is FULL.
The Village (Gleannloch) • 10am-Noon  This project is FULL.
Volunteers: Need 10-12 per location  
Responsible children are welcome.
 
A ministry to support the local community through serving, sharing and caring by the power of Christ.
Tasks: Build a gazebo for a community park. (Some constrution experience is helpful.)
Time: 8am-2pm
Volunteers: Need 30-40  Responsible children over age 12 are welcome.
