Initially, we will start with parallel service times, with at least one service overlapping like this:
Center Court West: 9am & 11am
Center Court East: 11am & 5pm
As we grow, we would add more service offerings by opening up both rooms at the same time. Once this happens, our growth restriction wouldn’t be capacity indoors, but in the driveways going into the parking lot. At this point, we would offer staggered times that would utilize both rooms, but allow cars to arrive at different times:
Center Court West: 9am & 10:30am
Center Court East: 9:45am, 11:15am & 5pm
Would we offer two services at the same time?
Yes. By opening both worship rooms at the same time (or overlapping, in the case of staggered times) we can double our seating capacity while not increasing the size of any one room.
How will the preacher be in two places at once?
We will use a “virtual teaching” video technology to have the sermon in more than one place at once. In the venue where the teaching is on video, the preacher will be seen from head to foot walking across the stage while the magnified, shoulder-up shot will continue on the side screens as it does now.
One Congregation/Two Center Courts
Would we offer two different bands?
Yes. Whether parallel or staggered service times, there will be two bands with live worship experiences in both rooms. At this time, there are no plans on having styles vary widely beyond the natural differences in the worship leaders.
Wouldn’t this make us more like 2 congregations rather than 1?
No. Faithbridge will continue to be a church of one congregation that meets at different times, and now, places. This isn’t very different from what we experience now at Faithbridge with our worship services held at different times on Sunday.
Where is the connecter between the 2 buildings?
While there is a backstage connector for production purposes, the fellowship connection will be outdoors under canopies to protect from the weather. Having one fellowship space for both venues is both costly and does not help to solve the problem of the large crowds of people that is being experienced now.
Modular Buildings
When we will begin the next phase of Building on a Firm Foundation?
As soon as we can, as slow as we must. Given the current economic climate, we believe it is wisest to move incrementally as we can afford. We will continue to be prayerful about the next steps and will move forward when the time is right, which time is yet to be determined.
Wouldn’t it be more cost effective to add some debt and just own the children’s buildings rather than lease modular buildings?
At some point, as we add more and more modular buildings to meet the needs, this would be true. However, at this time we believe it is better to grow the children’s space in phases as we need it, rather than going into long-term debt initially for space that is not yet needed.
Won’t we have a problem with modular buildings being located where future permanent buildings will be?
Yes. When it is time to begin the next phase of Building on a Firm Foundation, we will need to move the modulars to build the children’s buildings. However, we feel it is better to have a couple of months of discomfort of having the modulars separated from the campus with clear beginning and end times rather than have them away away from the campus from the outset for an unknown period of time.
